Bob (Robert) Allinger

Bob Allinger was a man with many talents:

• Built and Raced, Race Cars. Many cars that Bob Allinger built were raced at San Jose Speedway, San Jose, CA.
  Brent Kaeding and Howard Kaeding raced cars built by Bob Allinger in the World of Outlaws races. He also built a Sprint car for Kenny Molica.
• Built Race Boats, like Miss Peps and Skip-A-Long
• He built Lee Chapel's Tornado in the garage on the ranch on Bucknall ave that was on the cover of Mechanix Illustrated Magazine.
• He had the first Volkswagen dealership in Santa Clara County in the 1950's. 
  Dealership was in San Jose on Market Street on corner of Balbach. 
  After selling Volkswagen dealership to Andersen / Behel he had a Mercedes, Triumph, Borward and Maserati dealership in Palo Alto.
  Sales were in Town and Country Village and also had a shop on Transport St.  Then he moved the dealership to Los Gatos, CA.
  The Los Gatos Brewery now occuppies the location where his dealership once was.
• He was a Oil Painter. He painted many paintings of Coastlines, Countrysides, Hawaiian ladies on velet and much more.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Before a crowd of more than 5,000, Dave Oliver won the first organized midget auto race held June 4, 1933, at Hughes Stadium on the grounds of Sacramento Junior College.  After turning the fastest qualifying time, Oliver started last in the 10-car field to score the victory driving Bob Allinger 's Overland-powered No. 2. Oliver, an accomplished big-car driver, was the only driver in the field with previous racing experience.

This Car # 98 was sponsored by Rob's father's business Roy's Foreign Car Service which was also once located in Los Gatos, CA.
